The most popular and delicious Chicken Tehri ever made | Healthy Recipe | Ramadan Special 2023


 


Chicken Tehri is a popular South Asian dish made with chicken, rice, and a variety of aromatic spices. Here's a recipe for making Chicken Tehri at home:



Ingredients:


* 500g chicken, cut into medium-sized pieces

* 2 cups basmati rice

* 1 onion, sliced

* 2 tomatoes, chopped

* 2-3 green chillies, sliced

* 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

* 1 tsp cumin seeds

* 1 tsp coriander powder

* 1 tsp garam masala powder

* 1 tsp turmeric powder

* 1 tsp red chilli powder

* 1/2 tsp black pepper powder

* Salt to taste

* 4-5 cups water

* 3 tbsp oil

* Fresh coriander leaves for garnish




Directions:



1. Wash and soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.


2. Heat oil in a large pot or deep pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.


3. Add sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.


4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.


5. Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.


6. Add chicken pieces and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they turn light brown.


7. Add all the spices - coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.


8. Drain the rice and add it to the pot. Mix well with the chicken and spices.


9. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes, until the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed.


10. Once done, turn off the heat and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.


11. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.


12. Serve hot with raita or salad. Enjoy your delicious Chicken Tehri!
